We had another chance to visit the machine shop manufacturing the stainless steel Pico bodies, the only part we are waiting on. Here is the breakdown:
- 100% of step 2 of 4 is complete for the 3mm Picos
- 50% of step 2 of 4 is complete for the 1.75mm Picos
*Step 2 is the drilling process which you saw video of in the last update. It is the most intricate process — It requires the most time in order to achieve the surface finish standard we specify.
Step 3 is cutting the fins and top mounting threads on Pico which will begin this week. This process is simpler and thus faster as only minimal tools are required. The final finishing steps include machining the wrench flats and thermistor hole.
We have been planning the shipping to begin at the end of this month leading into the beginning of next month. After this visit and getting a better feel of the progress, we are now projecting to begin shipping the middle of next month, April.
We will be shipping the Kickstarter Picos in the order they were received, starting with our early backers. Once we have fulfilled all Kickstarter orders, we will move onto our website pre-orders. The 500C Picos are expected to start shipping at the end of April into the beginning of May.
We sincerely apologize for this delay. Thank you for your support and patience,
Mike & Will
